The Coffs Harbour Cultural Trust was established through Prosper Coffs Harbour Limited (PCH Ltd) to provide a source of funding for the promotion of literature, music, performing arts, visual arts, design, new media, Aboriginal Arts and creative industries within the Coffs Harbour local government area.
The Trust has direct linkages to the ‘MyCoffs’ Community Strategic Plan that was developed by Coffs Harbour City Council. However, as PCH Ltd is a separate legal entity the Trust will provide another mechanism for further research, promotion and support.
The Minister for the Arts has approved the Coffs Harbour Cultural Trust for entry to the Register of Cultural Organisations (RoCo). This enables individuals donating to the public fund to receive a tax deductible receipt for their donation.
The goals and strategies for the Cultural Trust will be to develop capacity and further the depth of cultural life within the Coffs Harbour region, this will include:
The Coffs Harbour Cultural Trust has an Advisory Committee comprised of community member representatives of the wider arts sphere. Members who are selected onto the committee have considerable professional expertise and proven community involvement in art and culture.
The Coffs Harbour Cultural Trust Youth Scholarship is the main program for the trust. The Scholarship was established through Prosper Coffs Harbour to provide a source of funding for the promotion of literature, music, performing arts, visual arts, design, media and aboriginal arts within the Coffs Harbour LGA.
The Scholarship Fund is administered by the Cultural Trust to assist young emerging artists in all art forms in their chosen field. Applicants can seek financial assistance in attending one off specialist courses or workshops inside or outside the Coffs Harbour area, which will further their long-term career aspirations in the arts.
